Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 8th Asia-Pacific Drosophila Research Conference (APDRC8), to be held in Korea in 2027. We are delighted to host APDRC in Korea for the second time, following APDRC2 in 2013, and to bring together colleagues from across the Asia-Pacific region, the United States, Europe, and beyond.

Drosophila research continues to advance our understanding of fundamental biology and human disease. Across genetics, development, neuroscience, physiology, metabolism, aging, and many other fields, our community shares a commitment to addressing important biological questions through creative and rigorous experimentation. APDRC8 will offer an opportunity to exchange discoveries, share diverse perspectives, and build collaborations across disciplines and borders.

As artificial intelligence opens new avenues in the life sciences, we hope APDRC8 will provide a forum to explore how Drosophila research can inspire new questions, advance experimental approaches, and help shape the future of biological research.

Above all, we hope that APDRC8 will be a welcoming place for lively discussions, new ideas, and lasting friendships. We warmly invite researchers at every career stage to share their work and learn from one another. We hope your time in Korea will be scientifically rewarding, personally meaningful, and enjoyable.

We look forward to welcoming you to Korea in 2027.

Seok Jun Moon APDRC8 Organizing Committee
